Chondroplasty or Adam’s Apple Reduction is a surgery commonly undergone by transgender women, in which, as the name suggests, the size of the thyroid cartilage is reduced to eliminate the prominence and give the neck a more feminine appearance. It is performed through a small incision made in a crease at the junction of the head and neck to make the scar as inconspicuous as possible. The sutures are made with absorbable thread to avoid discomfort from removing stitches.
